And I ran...

I ran so far away!!! (ahh who doesn´t love Flock of Seagulls) but no I didn´t run far away I just ran cause today I started my "Couch 2 5K" program and I can´t believe how good and bad I feel at the same time.

I feel good cause I did it, I actually got up put tennis on, and went out and ran, badly in terrible shape, carrying 3 dvds on my hand (was suppoused to return them but the videoclub was closed) but I did it, and every time I finished my 60 seconds run I smiled and felt great cause I was doing it, instead of sitting on my fat ass I was actually there sweatin (not that there is anything wrong with sittin on a fat ass heck I do it most of the time), and bad cause I can totally feel what not moving for 5 years has done to me, the only exercise I dutifully do is lifting my arm to bring stuff to my mouth and eat it and it shows, but this is exactly what I want to avoid, I don´t intent to have a rockin body, just feel good and be able to run and not need oxygen after I do it.

So a few of reminders for my next run wich is for the first week every other day (thank God!!!):
  • Do not bring DVDs, go and get them after you are done
  • Sport bra is a MUST
  • Tight shorts are a great idea or sweats, boxers that ride up are not a good visual or comfy
  • Who the heck brings her cellphone to run? Leave the cell at home!!
  • Find a place to put your iPod that is not on the way
  • Sport bra is really really important
  • Soon get nice tennis shoes or your flat feet are going to suffer
  • Ignore the people that stare, at least you are doing something
  • Don´t give up!
  • Put on something with pockets, where else can you put your house keys
  • Arm band for iPod, I need one
  • Sport bra: get one or jiggle all around.
So right now I feel tired, my heart is slowly coming to the normal pace and my face is returning to its original color, but I feel good, happy I did it.

Part of me running is because Tammy of My little world inspired me too, she is training to run 10 miles very soon and is so committed to running she is a true inspiration so Tammy thank you again I did it, I ran today and have no plans of stopping cause I feel disgustingly bad but so happy!!!

If you have the idea of running I really recommend this program I downloaded some podcast to my iPod and it has great music and it tells you when to run or walk and I loved it, I still think it should come with and introductory episode called "From Coma to the Front Door" but thats just an opinion.

Anyway off to craft!!!!

You go girl! I am SO proud of you! And you are right too -- even 5 minutes of walking/running is more than some people do. Don't discount yourself! You can do this! I have absolute faith in you! And yes, sport bras are very important! :-)

Congrats on getting up and moving! I'm in the same boat. Can't wait to get my big butt moving again also. BTW- Sports bra is a big must have. Also, I just got the ipod shuffle and I can't wait to put it to use. It is so small and compact it just clips on your clothing. Loving it. Also... recommend a really good pair of running shoes. Make sure you try them on in the middle of the day (according to my podiatrist). I have to tell you, I can never find a sneaker that is good. I can try on every single sneaker in a store and go for days. So I am wishing you luck with that one. I hear New Balance is one of the best (again, according to the dr. anything 460 and up in NB he says).
Keep on trucking!

Lida - that is awesome. WTG Girl. Getting started is the first step. I hope you keep it up. All those folks who are staring - well they'll be staring even harder when they see the new fit and healthy Lida in a few weeks time!

I am so dang proud of you! I just had to pick up a poisoned mouse in the driveway and drop him in a jar of clorox water, and the reason I'm telling you is that my heart is beating as fast as if i'd run with you. my hubs is always at work when this stuff happens.....
